Kanthal Heating Modules
Kanthal Fibrothal, Moduthal and Superthal solutions.
Electron's heating modules combine the best features of electric heating and fibre or dense ceramic insulation. This makes them suitable for both the smallest laboratory oven and the largest production oven. Electron has different variants of heating modules to suit every requirement.

Various modules: Fibrothal®, Superthal® and Moduthal® |
The heating modules provided by electron are designed for a wide range of thermal processing applications up to element temperature of 1700°C (3090°F). We offer three types of heating modules, each with their own specific properties: Fibrothal®, Superthal® and Moduthal®.
FibrothalThe low thermal mass and thermal conductivity of the ceramic fibre furnace linings mean that you can build industrial furnaces which, depending on the type and mode of operation, contribute significantly to energy saving, higher output and better availability. In the electrically heated furnace, however, it is very expensive and time consuming to combine ceramic fibres, such as blankets or folding blocks, with electric heating elements. This has led to the product concept which we introduced to the market in 1978 under the trademark Fibrothal®. Today the Fibrothal® trademark covers a family of products consisting of vacuum-formed ceramic fibre components, with or without electric heating elements. |
SuperthalSuperthal® heating modules are intended for use in production or laboratory furnaces/heaters wherever concentrated heat is needed. They provide major energy savings in several applications and offer the flexibility of different temperatures and processes to take place in the same furnace. Prefabricated heating modules consisting of vacuum-formed ceramic fibre with an integral Kanthal® Super molybdenum disilicide (MoSi2) heating element for up to 1750°C (3180°F) element temperature. |
ModuthalThe construction method of Moduthal® heating modules ensures accurate positioning of the coils and eliminates the distortion or other problems connected to the conventional open coil elements in grooves or on tubes. A fibre-free version of Moduthal® heating modules is available for up to 1250°C (2280°F) element temperature. Module type will determine the maximum permissible element temperature |
